Art, ATM and Ayurveda

Jaipur is a city of colour – it’s amber fort, pink buildings and decorated elephants dazzle in the sunshine. There is great wealth, incredible jewels and art to be seen. We learnt about Maharajas past and present and at the observatory we learnt about the influence of astronomy on people’s lives today – marriages to be arranged, wedding days decided and even the correct day to buy a car – all directed by the stars !

Perhaps the stars guided Sara and Cath as they set off alone to the ATM, or maybe Bharat ( our guide) played his part as he held our hands to cross the road. At one point we stood together (majestically, bravely and upright like monuments in the centre of the road) as the cars, bikes and animals swerved around us! We made it !

Udaipur has been an oasis of calm and beauty on our frantic travel experience. We have woken to the sights of hills, lakes and islands and eaten at night watching the lights shimmer on the water. The palace was beautiful, airy and light both internally and  externally, seen from the lake as we sailed. We are calm re – energised and in awe!
